I wish somebody else would blog. I'm getting tired of Wendy's coupon blogs. It wouldn't be so bad if she weren't doing so much better than me, but as you know she does everything better.

Dance

I got some horrible footage for Granny. This is from the first rehearsal. We were at that rehearsal from 4:45 to 9:15! There were 28 "numbers". They got better after the second rehearsal.

Kitchen

Yes, Jenny, I painted it. I had the canvas, so I thought I'd try something.

I meant to post pictures of my kitchen for my non-facebook friend, but I can't figure out why, for the life of me, the download tool doesn't come up when I hook up my camera and turn it on!

Bloggable Breakfast

This morning breakfast was so good that I have to blog about it. I have had this recipe from allrecipes.com for a while, but I changed it up this morning and we were all raving!

Coffee Cake

2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup white sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
2/3 cup butter
2 eggs, beaten
2/3 cup milk
1 cup fresh blackberries (They were on sale!)
1/2 cup pecans, chopped

Preheat oven to 350. Grease 9x13 pan. Mix flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. "Cut in" butter (I make tiny cubes and use my fingers.) until it resembles course crumbs. Set aside 3/4 cup of the mixture to be used as topping. Now, mix the milk and eggs and add them to the mixture in your original bowl.
Spread the batter in the pan. Sprinkle blackberries on it. Then, sprinkle the topping and pecans on the top.
Bake for 35 minutes. Eat while hot! YUMMO!

A couple of notes: This is actually better with whole wheat flour. I've tried it with white and both mixed. All whole wheat is the best. Also, I've discovered that the stone ground variety doesn't bake as well as the regular kind. I get Gold Medal now. I also use powdered milk when I bake. You can't taste the difference and it's a little cheaper. It lasts longer, too. Using real butter make a difference, though. Frozen berries work just fine. I usually don't even thaw them, but you have to cook it a little longer, though. The original recipe has more sugar, no whole wheat, no pecans and margarine.

Finally, this IS coffee cake, so a word about how I drink my coffee:
I fill the cup 1/3 full of 2% milk and heat it in the microwave for 30-45 seconds, depending on the size of the cup. Then, add strong 1/2 caff (8 o'clock coffee). Stir in 1 tsp. of "turbinado" sugar. Mmmmm. I haven't found coffee in a coffee shop that I like better.

M and E are learning how to remove hardware on cabinets that have been painted on. :) I am on day 3 of stripping and I am not seeing an end in sight! I have to go over each section at least twice because there are so many layers of paint.

The only thing in Spanish at the Dream Center are a few signs. :(
